SGT. BILL WEBER-IMPD Sgt. Weber has been with the DUI Unit since its formation in 1998. He has been on the Indianapolis Police Department for 25 years and has a background in Accident Investigations and DUI Enforcement. He has made over 2,500 DUI arrests and believes that DUI enforcement is extremely important in both traffic safety and general crime deterrence. He has three children, his oldest is a Sergeant in the US Army and currently stationed overseas. Sgt. Weber He had a total of 154 DUI arrests in 2008. Sgt. Weber stated, " DUI enforcement can do more to prevent injury to innocent people then any other type of police work that I know ". OFICER CHRISTOPHER SMITH-IMPD Officer Christopher Smith is an 18 year veteran of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and has been assigned to the DUI Enforcement Unit for over six years. Officer Smith is a SFST/DRE Instructor and has been for the most of his law enforcement career. Officer Smith is a graduate of the Brokenstein Institute which he attended on the IU Bloomington Campus. Officer Smith is one of the original members of the Marion County fatal Alcohol Crash team (FACT) where he has a duel role as a DUI Specialist and Interviewer. Officer Smith in his first year on IMPD was named Rookie of the Year and later in his career named Traffic Officer of the Year. Officer Smith has always made DUI enforcement a top priority even before he became a part of the DUI Unit. It haa always been his belief that the DUI arrest made on any given nght might be the DUI that would have caused either a serious bodily injury or a fatal crash. Officer Smith is married to Karen Smith, who is a detective on IMPD in the Prescription Fraud Unit. The Smiths have 4 English Bulldogs who will always be known as their children. Officer Smith is also in training to become a Funeral Director and has worked for Harry Moore Funeral Care in Indianapolis for the last two years. Officer Smith has made 122 DUI arrestes in 2008. OFFICER DAN SHRAGAL - IMPD Officer Shragal is a 19 year veteran of the Indianapolis Police Department and has been a valued and important member of the IMPD DUI Unit for over 8 1/2 years. During that time he has made over 1400 DUI arrests with a 99% conviction rate. he is a DRE Instructor and has taught in many states east of the Mississippi. He is also an SFST Instructor and was on the planning board for the 2008 National DRE Conference held in Indianapolis. In his off duty hours, he likes to play golf and also enjoys cooking. He had 5 children ranging in ages from 6 to 16. His middle child Karina, was adopted from Russia in 1999 from a otwn called Irkutsk which is in Syberia. Officer Dan Shragal has made 142 UDI arrests in 2008.
